Answer : - Vicomte thought that the house rent was too high and was being a burden on the tenants. Thus, he decided to lower it. ii. What was Bernard's reaction to the decision? Answer : - Bernard was hugely surprised and became anxious. He considered this decision of Bernard would incur huge loss to him. He did not approve of the decision of lowering the house rents. iii
