Answer:- A title of a literary peace always reflects the innate message and frame of the literary art work. A title always establishes the ambiences of the whole story before hands and a perfect title always encourages leader to go through it immediately. The title of the story “Thank you, Ma’am” is very much significant as it succeeds to reflect the sprite of the whole story. The short story “Thank you, Ma’am” symbolizes how a middle-aged woman filled with motherly emotions treated a teenager so tenderly! She was very kind to a boy who attempted to switch her purpose. Moreover, she took him to her house and fed him realize why  one should not choose any wrong way to achieve something as it burns one’s own soul. The boy seemed to be indebted to this woman. He wanted to say something other than “Thank you, Ma’am” to Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones but wordily got any scope to say anything further as the door was shut but those three words “Thank you, Ma’am” were heavier than thank you because those words were overloaded with powerful feelings and gratitude. Thus, it can be asserted that the title is appropriate and justified.

1.    Did the boys in Langston Hughes story undergo any change? Cite some examples in support of your answer.

Answer:- There is no denying the fact that Roger as evidently had witnessed certain changes within his moral character. It were his behavior and utterances that had reflected the changes that he did undergo. When the large woman named Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones told him that he could have asked her money to buy blue suede shoe instead of trying to snatch her purse when he heard this he was actually abstract. In reply, he could not answer but it was quite evident from his utterance of ma’am that was somehow touched with that kind of treatment. Even the door was open and he could safely make a dash for it down the hall but he did not do so. Even when the woman went behind the screen living her purse before her nose he did nothing to be mistrusted again. Moreover, he sat on the first sight of room, so that he could be visible to the woman. When the woman after finishing the eating gave him ten dollar to buy shoes, he couldn’t say a simple word as he seemed to have been overloaded with the emotional and gratefulness. It was the shower of motherly feelings from Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones side that might have put Roger into the dept of thoughtfulness and he seemingly started to feels the burnings sensation of the soul that does any sin.
